Mr & Mrs S suffered a burglary at their home. A considerable quantity of jewellery was stolen. Much of this jewellery had been given to them as wedding gifts, or it had been inherited by them.

Their Insurer appointed Loss Adjusters who initially insisted that all the stolen jewellery could be replaced by Insurer's chosen jewellers and that Mr & Mrs S had to order replacement jewellery from Insurer's chosen jewellers.

The Loss Adjusters refused a cash payment to Mr & Mrs S in respect of the stolen jewellery.

Mr & Mrs S were very unhappy with the handling of their claim as they did not want to replace all the jewellery at once, nor did they want to use the High Street jeweller selected by their Insurers. They came to Insco for help.

Insco were able to persuade the Loss Adjusters to agree to a cash settlement. The Loss Adjusters tried at argue that a cash settlement would have to allow for the discounts they could obtain from Insurers preferred jewellers and they offered a sum substantially less than the actual replacement costs that had been quoted.

Insco argued that this was incorrect, and we were eventually able to obtain a cash payment from Mr & Mrs S's Insurers for over £13,500.
