Mr S noticed the roof to his house had suddenly and significantly deflected and that roof tiles had slipped.
He submitted a claim to his Insurers for accidental damage and his Insurers appointed Loss Adjusters and engineers to report on the matter.
The Loss Adjusters subsequently advised that in their opinion the ridge timber had split as a result of "over loading" (the original slates had been replaced by heavier concrete tiles some 15 years or so before).
Insurers declined to deal with the claim on the basis that the main beam had split as a result of " a gradually operating cause"
Insco were appointed and after considerable exchanges of communications with Mr S' Insurers we were able to achieve settlement of the claim; we successfully argued that Insurers had not proven the exclusion(s) upon which they were seeking to rely to defeat Mr S' claim for accidental damage.
A payment of over £6,500 was made by Mr S's Insurers for the roof reapir works required.
